HOW IT BEGAN

Several years ago we bought an old abandoned fixer-upper with some huge dead Cottonwood trees in the yard. After the house was finally livable and the trees were down, I salvaged some big chunks and decided to try to make some thing interesting from them. Thus a Shade Tree sculptor was born.

I had discovered a new world in sculpture. My husband, mentor and best friend encouraged and prodded me. I began to receive chain saws, grinders, knives and other wonderful tools for gift occasions. When we were out river ratting the boat collected piles of driftwood. The housework suffered, the weeds grew, but not a word of complaint was heard.

Here you see a couple of early efforts. The totem pole is made of pine and 14' tall. The robin's nest was laying on the ground and I happily filled it up with this little family.
